This song is the embodiment of some of the most depressing moments in my life. I listened to it on repeat when, at 17, my ex-girlfriend told me she was pregnant and we had an abortion and I shut myself in my room everyday after school after that. I listened to it on repeat when, at Michigan State, I considered nightly jumping from a great height. I still put it on when I’m depressed for what seems like no apparent reason whatsoever.
The bad times make the good times that much better, but this song makes the worst of times tolerable.
Happy 20th birthday, Selected Ambient Works Vol. II!
